Beth Bengtson has over a decade of experience in digital media and interactive strategic communications, working on both agency and client sides, for both Fortune 100 and small clients alike. Her particular interest is examining how interactive media can be used to effectively engage and align stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives. Prior to SDialogue, Beth had been Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at imc2, a top tier digital marketing and communications company serving major blue chip clients. As Beth defined this new role, she led the firm’s efforts to explore ways that digital media could help clients achieve business objectives while generating a greater social and environmental impact. She also authored The State of Sustainability Communication, A Study: How Effectively the S&P 100 Communicates Sustainability.
No stranger to sustainability, she grew up outside Woodstock, NY where her family grew its own food, composted and recycled before anyone had a blue bin. She brings her passion and skills into her local community by being on the Board of the Kingston Farmers’ Market. Beyond her experience, Beth’s work is strengthened by an avid love for her family, nature (she’s a passionate bicyclist and kayaker), and her desire to leave the world a better place. Beth holds a BS from Penn State University & and a MBA, from Schiller International University – Paris, France.
Perry Goldschein is a sustainability and marketing veteran, and a recovering lawyer, with two decades of experience. As a founding partner of SDialogue, Perry has worked with clients as small as Earth Footwear and as large as Johnson & Johnson. Prior to rebranding as SDialogue, Perry founded its predecessor, SRB Marketing, a digital marketing firm focused on sustainability, and two earlier companies involving alternative energy and media. For the last several years, Perry has helped set the strategic direction of the company, developed business relationships, and project managed the teams that achieved award-winning results for clients that also included Ben & Jerry’s, National Geographic, Pfizer and Yale University. He’s authored a variety of publications on sustainability issues and marketing; has been quoted widely in the trade media, including AdAge, MediaPost, MarketingSherpa and Target Marketing; and spoken at various trade events, including ad:tech Chicago, American Strategic Management Institute, Sustainable Brands, Net Impact, LOHAS, and SRI in the Rockies.
Perry was also a marketing executive and lawyer for a successful AT&T spin-off, an Inc. “500 Fastest Growing” company, and an environmental law firm. His education includes degrees from the University of California, Davis School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania. Perry has been getting to his favorite hiking spots in his Honda Insight and Toyota Prius gas-electric hybrid cars since 2000, and enjoys outdoor photography.
Colleen B. Kelly, our right hand these days, recently graduated with honors, Lambda Phi Eta , from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Media, with a concentration in Media Production. She has a double minor in Theater Arts and Environmental Studies. Her passion for the environment extends past her studies. While at New Paltz, Colleen volunteered at the Brook Farm Project, a local CSA and was a member of the Environmental Chapter of NYPIRG. In her junior year at New Paltz Colleen studied abroad in London England at Kingston University where she experienced other cultures and has been able to bring those experiences back with her to the States.
Colleen’s favorite animal has always been a turtle, she has a red eared slider at home named Squirt who she rescued from the streets of China Town, NYC.
Joanne Lawrence is an international management consultant, adjunct professor, not-for-profit board member and published author with extensive experience in strategically-driven organizational change, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, and internal and external communication, including investor relations. She specializes in transforming organizations to deliver greater social and economic impact, using a holistic, comprehensive approach and has designed leadership change, communication and CSR/ethics workshops to enable managers to lead their own change efforts.
Ms. Lawrence co-authored From Promise to Performance: The Journey of Transformation at SmithKline Beecham (SB) (Harvard Business School Press, 1997). SB was the subject of an award-winning INSEAD case study: “The Making of the Simply Better Healthcare Company” and her work is cited in The Search for Strategic Credibility: Concepts and Cases in Global Strategy Communications. Her latest article, “The Disappearing Water Cooler” is included in the recently published The Future of Innovation.
Alex Motzenbecker is a former senior developer and art director, who found M Studio in 2002 to bring useful technology to designers, ad agencies and entrepreneurs. Alex earned his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Since 2000, he has taught programming for designers at Parsons School of Design and The New School. Alex has worked on numerous projects that have been honored with awards from the Art Director’s Club, Flashforward and Cannes Lions.
Jason VanLue is an entrepreneur and brand experience designer. He serves as the Founder and Creative Director at FiveSeven Studios, a freelance branding & marketing agency specializing in designing brand experiences for clients online. In addition to working with a wide variety of small businesses and organizations, Jason has had the privilege to consult with top executives and creatives at Yum! Brands, NBC-Universal, Universal Studios Orlando, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, and the National Office of Drug Control Policy. He studied International Economics at the University of Central Florida, and lives with his wife Melanie and 3yr old son Cade in Maitland, Florida. A former All-American swimmer, Jason enjoys swimming, running, reading, involvement in his local church, architecture, and UNC basketball.
Arthur Zaczkiewicz is a freelance journalist and editor. He’s a founding member of the Kingston Land Trust and serves as vice president of the Kingston Natural Foods Buying Club. He previously served as the director of content at Argyle Executive Forum, a media firm that convenes c-level executives, investors and stakeholders from a variety of industries. Prior to Argyle, he served as senior editor, financial, of Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) and was the financial editor of the Fairchild Fashion Group, a division of Condé Nast Publications.
As a reporter and writer, Zaczkiewicz’s work has appeared in WWD, WWD The Magazine, WWD Scoop, DNR, Footwear News, Home Furnishings News, HomeWorld Business, Hotel Business, Newsday, the Times Herald-Record, Retail Traffic, New York House magazine and Ulster Publishing. He has also appeared on CNBC’s On the Money and on Northeast Public Radio.
