It’s truly a small green world. It’s Tuesday, 5/9, later afternoon and I’m on my flight back from Chicago to Newark after speaking at All Things Organic. I just finished reading the May issue of Fast Company Magazine, which featured a prominent article on the organic food industry and it’s tremendous growth.
Just prior to boarding the plane, I ran into a woman who not only attended the ATO event, but had just sat in on the session at which I had presented. She is a former insurance analyst who is starting, with her partner, a sustainable women’s fashion company (organic cotton, hemp and bamboo clothing). She graduated from Wharton, at my alma mateur, Penn, and also attended the LOHAS trade event just a week and one half before in Santa Monica, which SRB had sponsored and at which we also exhibited.
Yesterday, when I first arrived at ATO, I visited the exhibit booth of our client, Frey Vineyards. Katrina Frey told me some of her colleagues had mentioned they read about Frey and Katrina in the most recent issue of Worthwhile Magazine. I wrote the article to which they were referring, and so loved to hear about that. Katrina also mentioned she had visited a boutique retail shop in Michigan while visiting family, before attending ATO, and found the shop selling Frey wines. Turns out the shop owner had found out about Frey even before he opened the shop, recently, through one of the email newsletters in which we used to place our online campaigns for Frey!
As we see more and more of the great folks with whom we get to work at similar industry trade events, as well as in both targeted and mainstream publications, I see how small, in some ways, yet large in many other ways, our movement is. And I take great satisfaction in hearing about the multiple ways in which we are able to help our clients and other friends grow.
